Solar-Tec presents its positioning as a technology integration and business development platform

With its new website, Solar-Tec Energy Green defines its role: independent technology integrator and owner’s engineer for BESS and PV + BESS projects, and a bridge between China’s energy industry and projects in Spain and the EU.

What it means: Almost two decades of work in China and in the Spanish market, at the service of manufacturers, investors, IPPs and large energy users.

Spain eases energy requirements for data centres

The government is revising its draft: instead of requiring 80% hourly renewable matching from day one, it opens a transition period (60% in peak hours until 2029, 70% in 2029 and 80% in 2032) and extends the accepted age of associated renewable plants from 16 to 36 months.

What it means: For a data centre, renewables, batteries and an EMS managing hourly matching become part of the design from the start, not an add-on.

Industry proposes 8 hours as the benchmark for long-duration storage

A white paper by consultancy alinnea proposes a national, technology-neutral definition of long-duration storage based on hours of delivery to the grid, with 8 hours as an initial threshold. Spain targets 22.5 GW of storage by 2030.

What it means: System duration will weigh more and more in design and revenue models. Choosing the right BESS architecture from the start avoids being left out of future mechanisms.

27 projects with 1.78 GW of batteries published in the third quarter

Between July and September 2026, announcements for 27 renewable projects with battery storage, standalone or hybridised with solar and wind plants, were published in Spain’s official gazette, totalling 1.78 GW of BESS.

What it means: Project volume is growing fast, but an announcement is not a built project. What makes the difference is well-qualified technology, grid connection and a bankable contract structure.

Spain approves the capacity market framework

Order TED/966/2026 sets up the peninsular capacity market, with technology-neutral auctions and contracts of up to 15 years for new investments. Brussels approved it in May with a maximum budget of €9 billion. The first auctions are still pending.

What it means: For storage it means a stable revenue stream that improves bankability. Getting ready for the first auctions requires the technology, duration and warranties of the system to be defined now.

What Solar-Tec is

A technology integration and business development platform. Not an EPC.

Solar-Tec Energy Green has worked in the Spanish energy market since 2007. In battery storage we act as an independent technology integrator and owner’s engineer for standalone BESS and PV + BESS hybrid projects.

Our role

Our role sits between the project owner, the technology supplier and the EPC, without replacing any of them. We select and qualify the technology, design the system architecture, coordinate grid-code compliance and certification, structure supply, warranty and LTSA terms so the project can be financed, and follow the asset through commissioning and operation.

What sets us apart

We are technology-agnostic: the project case decides the equipment. Our differentiator is hands-on delivery in Spain, including a PV + BESS project in Girona that obtained the first NTS 2.1 grid-code certificate issued in Spain for its power-conversion equipment, combined with long-standing relationships across the Chinese Tier-1 supply chain.

We work in the format each project, investor or partner needs: advisory, owner’s engineering, technology integration or co-development.
